Daily News, once the largest tabloid newspaper in the United States, is an award-winning source of national and local news. From New York exclusives to politics and the latest in gossip and celebrity, we cover it all.
The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily and has been financially and editorially independent since its founding on January 28, 1878. The News publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year and also produces several special issues each year, including the Yale-Harvard game day issue (WKND), the Commencement Issue and First Year Issue and issues celebrating various cultural centers and affiliated student groups.
The News also provides a variety of resources to help students understand news stories and the broader contemporary issues they address. In addition to articles, the News features videos, maps and links that can be used in classrooms. Each article is accompanied by comprehension and critical thinking questions that challenge students to think deeply about the news story. In addition, each question is followed by a selection of related “Background” and “Resources” to support students’ deeper comprehension.
