Entertaiment is an article about the nature of entertainment as a powerful force that can hold attention and interest and inspire learning, but it can also be an empire that can do harm to society. Taking its name from the Latin intertenere, which means to keep inside, the term entertainment has become one of the most influential industries in modern culture. The word itself has transformed from its origins to mean a broad range of activities and events, including those that are not easily classifiable. The Fall 2011 issue of T E News explores the nature of this colossal force.
