The Philadelphia Inquirer’s newsroom includes 44 journalists of color. In response to an editorial published in the paper detailing the risks to historic buildings during protests, 44 journalists of color signed an open letter to the editors. The editors later apologized for the article.
New York Daily News

Founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson, the New York Daily News is one of the most widely circulated newspapers in the country. Its circulation peaked in 1947, with 2.4 million copies sold daily.
The paper has a reputation for being a reliable source of news and information in New York. Although it has experienced a dip in readership during the past decade, it has remained a mainstay in the New York news scene. The newspaper’s large photographs and prominent sections focus on sports, entertainment, and city life. It also features an opinion section and classified ads.
Memphis Daily News
The Memphis Daily News is a community newspaper that focuses on local news. With a circulation of 1.35 million people and a sprawling footprint in Mississippi and Arkansas, it aims to be the primary local news source for the area. Of that, approximately half live in Memphis proper. As such, The Memphian’s business model is based on achieving scale.
The newspaper’s May 12th edition covered the Latino and Greek Festivals. The article also mentioned a protest organized by Local Memphis for the day without immigrants. It was reported in the Commercial Appeal and WMCTV News Channel 5. The Salsa Making Championship is also featured in the article.
Orlando Sentinel
The Orlando Sentinel has been around for more than 130 years. It has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes and is known for its in-depth journalism. Its sports reporters chronicle the triumphs of the Florida Gators and Orlando Magic. Its roving travel correspondents report on the best islands for shipwives and beach vacations. And its business writers report on strategic changes in area businesses and the economy.
The Orlando Sentinel was a large part of my childhood. It was the only newspaper in my hometown. I remember reading it with my family every day. My father was also an employee there. Alden was closing in on the Tribune’s acquisition of the Baltimore Sun when the Orlando Sentinel was put up for sale.
